A distinguished German conductor and composer, Franz Wilhelm Abt was a student at the Leipzig University. Abt soon developed friendship with Mendelssohn and Schumann. Considered the leading choral conductor in Germany, Abt performed in virtually all music centers in the country. One of the most productive composers ever, Abt wrote more than 3000 compositions.
