Jean-Baptiste Breval short biography
The distinguished French composer, Jean-Baptiste Breval was a cello student of Jean-Baptiste Cupis. In 1778, Breval made his first public appearance with Concert Spirituel playing his own sonatas. This concert made Breval famous overnight. A prolific composer, Breval wrote music for many genres: symphonies, concertos, chamber and instrumental music, sonatas. Breval composed an opéra-comique, Ines et Leonore, performed in Versailles in 1788 to great success.
