Luigi Cherubini short biography

One of greatest Italian composers, Luigi Cherubini was the most important musician, teacher and music administrator in French musical life of the period. Cherubini assumed position as professor of the Paris Conservatoire at the time of its establishment and was later appointed its director, the position he held until his death. Cherubini's works, always successful,  include operas and, what was  necessary for the French revolutionary period, works for political occasions.
