The creator of the Nocturne form, a great Irish pianist and composer John Field, studied music with Salomon, Haydn’s friend, in London. Field later studied with and became an assistant to Muzio Clementi. Field’s successful concert career that started in London,  brought him all over Europe. After performances in Russia, Field settled in St. Petersburg and became a fashionable teacher and concert performer.
