Nikolay Miaskovsky short biography

An important Russian Soviet composer and pedagogue, Nikolay Miaskovsky was a friend and teacher of Sergey Prokofiev at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Miaskovsky studied with Liadov and Rimsky-Korsakov. Miaskovsky wrote 27 symphonies and a great number of piano and chamber music compositions. Miaskovsky was recognized by both the audienes and the government of the Soviet Union.
