Giovanni Battista Pergolesi short biography

A very important Italian musician, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi was a leading composer and made the most significant single contribution to the creation and development of Italian comic opera at the beginning of the 18th century. Pergolesi had his music education in Naples and was appointed maestro di cappella to a member of the royal court. Later, Pergolesi enjoyed a patronage of another member of the Neapolitan nobility.
