One of the highly regarded pianists of her time, Clara Wieck Schumann was born and educated in Leipzig. Clara’s father was a renowned piano teacher and a piano shop owner. Due to Clara Schumann’s international acclaim as a concert pianist, Frederic Chopin, Johannes Brahms, and her husband Robert Schumann asked her to premier their new piano compositions. Clara Schumann was a very talented and prolific composer. However, her successful concert career and the duty of supporting her 7 children after her husband’s death, significantly restricted her productivity.
