Alexander Zemlinsky short biography
Highly regarded in his time, Alexander Zemlinsky was in the middle of the most enthralling period in the European history. Zemlinsky was acclaimed as a leading composer and conductor in Vienna during the period. In 1911, Zemlinsky was appointed the opera conductor of the Deutsches Landestheater. There Zemlinsky introduced the works by Mahler and Schoenberg. Arnold Schoenberg considered Zemlinsky ‘a great composer whose time will come soon.’
