Andre Gretry short biography
The most important composer of the second half of the 18th century’s France, Andrè Gretry made an enormous contribution to the French opera and, particularly, to the Opera comique. Gretry held very important positions as Inspector of the Comedie Italienne, Royal Censor for Music and Director of the Queen's Private Music. Gretry was named member of the Lègion d'honneur.
